You may experience an issue on your iPod where it will show a message on the display stating "TV Out Enabled: Please Connect Video Accessory" as shown below:

Solution
If you see the message displayed above, connect a video-capable 30-pin cable to the dock connector on the bottom of the iPod (such as the Apple Component AV Cable or Apple Composite AV Cable) or connect another video-capable accessory to the dock connector.
For more information about using TV Out and supported cables, see support document: iPod and iPhone: TV Out support. Note that older video cables that connect to the headphone jack of earlier iPod models won't work when connected directly to iPod classic or iPod nano (3rd generation).

iPod touch: Black or dark spots when viewing video

iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows

Check the iPod touch Display
When you connect iPod touch to your computer, the iPod touch should display an image or message on the display. If you do not see any image, refer to support document #305740 for troubleshooting issues where the iPod touch won't turn on. In some cases, you may see a message on the screen that says "Charging... please wait." This indicates that the iPod touch does not have sufficient battery charge to operate and will need to be charged for several minutes before it can be recognized in iTunes. In other cases, you may see a message that indicates that your iPod touch requires service. In this case contact AppleCare or visit the Mac Genius desk at your local Apple Retail Store.

Verify Windows PC System Requirements
iPod touch requires iTunes 7.4 or later. Be sure that your Windows PC meets the minimum system requirements to use iTunes and iPod touch. This is particularly important if you are connecting iPod touch to your computer for the first time. To make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes, open iTunes and choose Help > Check for Updates.

Check USB Connections
iPod touch requires USB 2.0 to function properly. Refer to the documentation for your computer to verify that the USB ports are high-power USB 2.0 ports. Try connecting iPod touch to a different USB port, preferably a port that is built-in to the computer instead of an external USB hub. Connecting iPod touch to your keyboard's USB ports is not recommended.

Restart your PC
In some cases, your computer's USB ports may become temporarily disabled or you may experience other software related issues. Restarting your PC is an easy troubleshooting step that may resolve this issue.

Verify iPod touch Driver/Service Installation
iPod touch requires two important pieces of software to operate properly on Windows. First, the driver must be installed; for iPod touch the driver is USBAAPL.SYS. Second, Apple Mobile Device Support must be installed as a Windows Service. If these are not installed, see the Reinstall iTunes section below.
Verify that the driver is installed by connecting iPod touch to the computer and following these steps:

On the Start menu, click Run.
In the Open field, type devmgmt.msc and click OK. A list of devices will be displayed.
Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers and click the small plus sign to expand this group. iPod touch will be listed as either Apple iPod touch or Apple Mobile Device depending on the version of the driver installed.
Right-click Apple iPod touch (or Apple Mobile Device) and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
When the Properties window opens, select the Driver tab.
Click Driver Details to view more information.
Verify that the Apple Mobile Device Service is installed and running using the Services MMC snap-in using these steps:
On the Start menu, click Run.
In the Open field, type services.msc and click OK. A list of devices will be displayed.
View the list In alphabetical order and verify that the "Apple Mobile Device Service" status is "Started."

-If the status does not indicate the service is started, right-click Apple Mobile Device Service and choose Start from the shortcut menu.
-If the service is installed and started, right-click the service and choose Restart from the shortcut menu.
-If the driver is installed and the service is installed and started, check the Event Viewer for error messages.
-On the Start menu, click Run.
-In the Open field, type eventvwr.msc and click OK.

Reinstall iTunes
Make sure you are using iTunes 7.3 or later. Apple recommends using the latest version of iTunes. You can check the version of iTunes you are using by choosing About iTunes from the Help menu. Visit the iTunes download page at www.apple.com/itunes/download/ to download and install the latest version or choose Help > Check for Updates in iTunes.
While you do not normally need to remove iTunes before reinstalling it, in some cases this is recommended. If you see a message stating that "The software required for iPod touch is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, and then install iTunes again," then iTunes should be removed before reinstalling. For more information on removing iTunes, refer to support document 93698.

How to connect to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store at Starbucks

When you enter a participating Starbucks with an iPod touch, an iPhone, or a computer running the latest version of iTunes, you can access the iTunes Store and the Starbucks Now Playing content. To see if iTunes has arrived at your Starbucks, consult our list of participating Starbucks locations.

Connecting with an iPhone or iPod touch
Before attempting to connect to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store, be sure that the iPhone or iPod touch software is up to date. Learn how to update your iPhone or iPod touch software.
You will also need to sync your iPhone or iPod touch with a computer that has an iTunes Store account set up in iTunes. Doing so will sync your iTunes Store account to your iPhone or iPod touch. All subsequent purchases you make with this device via the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store will be charged to this iTunes Store account.
When you are in a participating Starbucks, select tmobile from the list of Wi-Fi networks on your iPhone or iPod touch. To find the list of Wi-Fi networks, tap Settings and then tap Wi-Fi. Then, on the Wi-Fi Networks screen, tap tmobile to join the network.
Once you have joined the T-Mobile network, you can connect to the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. Press the Home button to return to the Home screen and then tap iTunes. To access the Starbucks Now Playing content, simply tap the Starbucks icon. From this screen you can purchase the currently playing song, any of the last 10 songs played, or songs from featured Starbucks Collections.

Connecting with a portable computer
Before attempting to view the Starbucks Now Playing content, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed.
When you are in a participating Starbucks, select tmobile from your computer's list of Wi-Fi networks. If you have a Mac, you can learn how to join wireless networks here.

BMW began selling its revised-for-2008 5-Series cars earlier this year, and the German automaker changed the name of its six-cylinder-powered, mid-size 5-Series cars to reflect larger, more powerful engines. Thus, the 525i became the 2008 528i, now with 230-horsepower,3-liter, six-cylinder engine, while the old 530i became the 2008535i with 300-horsepower, 3-liter, twin-turbo, six-cylinder engine.In fact, the addition of this twin-turbo power plant to the 2008BMW 535xi Sports Wagon makes it more powerful than the predecessor540i wagon with 290-horsepower V-8. BMW also updated the interiors of these sedans and wagons and adds optional Lane Departure Warning that subtly vibrates the steering wheel when it detects a driver might be wandering out of his or her lane. The smaller, but oh-so-performance-oriented M3 debuts in 2008 with its first-ever V-8, generating 414 horses from its 4 liters. Watch next spring for the launch of BMW's subcompact 1-Series, finally in the States. The sleek, lightweight, two-passenger coupe promises to be the quickest Aston Martin production car ever with a 0-to-60-mph time around a mere 4.3 seconds. The DBS chassis is weight-saving aluminum, and power comes from a 510-horsepower, 6-liter V-12 with quad overhead cam shafts. Top speed is 191 mph. Only some 300 DBS cars will be built annually in Great Britain, so the DBS will be a most exclusive ride. The starting price tag is expected to be around $265,000. Meantime, Aston's long-running Vanquish is ending production, and Aston fans are waiting for the coming launch of the four-door Rapide.

Use iTunes to update iPod touch software to 1.1.1
To update iPod touch:
Make sure you have an Internet connection and have installed iTunes 7.4 or later from www.apple.com/itunes. Apple recommends using the latest version of iTunes.
Connect iPod touch to your computer.
In iTunes, select iPod touch in the source list and click the Summary tab.
Click "Check for Update." iTunes tells you if there's a newer version of the iPod touch software available.
Click Update to install the latest version of the software. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update process.
You can verify the software version installed on the iPod touch by choosing Settings > General > About.

Note: You can also restore the software, which puts iPod touch back to its factory condition and it installs the latest iPod touch software.
If you choose to update, iPod touch software is updated but your settings and media are not affected. If you choose to restore, all data is erased from iPod touch, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPod touch settings are restored to their factory condition.

iPhone and iPod touch: Tips when using Wi-Fi

See the iPhone User's Guide or iPod touch Features Guide for information on configuring Wi-Fi. Check these suggestions if you run into any issues using Wi-Fi. For best results, make sure you are using the most recent iPhone or iPod touch software. See this document for information on how to check for software updates.

Try renewing DHCP lease at commercial hotspots
If you are having issues using a commercial (paid) Wi-Fi hotspot, like at an airport or coffee shop, try renewing your DHCP lease.
1- Tap Settings > Wi-Fi Networks, then pick the network.
2- In the DHCP panel, select the Renew Lease button.

If this does not resolve the issue, then you might want to try 305740, "iPhone Basic Troubleshooting or 306418 iPod touch: Basic Troubleshooting.

If iPhone Wi-Fi connection reverts to EDGE
If you're trying to connect to Wi-Fi and it looks like you're connected, but when you access a web page, it goes back to EDGE, it may be due to a known issue if wireless router is using MAC Address Filtering and the iPhone's MAC address has not been entered into the filter list. This may also occur if the WEP password was entered incorrectly.
If you experience this and use WEP Password, on the iPhone tap Settings > Wi-Fi. Then tap More Info ( > ) next to the Wi-Fi network name and tap Forget this Network. Then try accessing the Wi-Fi network again. Alternatively, turn off WEP encryption on the wireless router.
If MAC Address Filtering is enabled on the wireless router, make sure iPhone's Wi-Fi address (in Settings > General > About) is entered into the router's filter. See the documentation that came with your wireless router for additional information.

Weak iPhone Wi-Fi signal
If you are having issues using the Internet, checking email, checking stocks, or other data activity with the iPhone (the possible error message could be "could not connect to server") and the Wi-Fi icon is showing very weak signal, try turning Wi-Fi off on the device so that the iPhone can use EDGE (tap Settings > Wi-Fi and the set Wi-Fi to off).

"Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)" connecting to Wi-Fi
If you are receiving the error message "Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)" on the iPhone or iPod touch when attempting to connect or join to your Wi-Fi network, verify your Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and Security setting (WEP password, WEP hex or ASCII, WPA, or WPA2) for the device.
On the Wi-Fi Access Point/Router, you should verify if MAC address filtering is turned ON or OFF on the router, whether the security settings on the router match the iPhone or iPod touch (WEP password, WEP hex or ASCII, WPA, or WPA2), and try disabling (QoS) quality of service if that feature is turned ON for the router.
If you are still receiving the error message "Unable to Join Network Failure (error -3)" on the device when attempting to connect or join to your Wi-Fi network after trying the above suggestions, tap Settings > Wi-Fi > Other (under Choose a Network) and then enter the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and select your Security setting and enter your password.

No Internet access when switching networks
If you are switching between different Wi-Fi networks and you are unable to access the Internet on the iPhone or perform other data activities thru Wi-Fi, try turning Airplane Mode on and then off (tap Settings and turn Airplane Mode on and then turn Airplane Mode off). For iPod touch, turn Wi-Fi off and then back on again (tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then turn Wi-Fi on). If the issue continues, tap Settings > Wi-Fi > Other (under Choose a Network) and then enter the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and select your Security setting and enter your password.

iTunes for Windows Vista: Distorted photos on device after syncing or blue screen error message on computer

Issue
Windows Vista computers using Serial ATA (SATA) HD controllers may experience unexpected behavior when copying images to iPhone, iPod, or Apple TV. Some images synced from Windows Vista may have color banding or appear visually distorted. You may also see one of the following messages when syncing the image:

"iTunes cannot copy the photo [photo name] because it cannot be displayed on the iPod."
"The photos you are syncing cannot be encrypted."
"Photos are not in an iPhone compatible format."
Additionally, iTunes may unexpectedly quit or become unresponsive or the computer may unexpectedly restart or show a blue screen error.

Solution
First, check to make sure you have the most recent drivers for your computer and the SATA HD controller. See this document for more information on updating drivers.

Right-click the flash disk ReadyBoost is using and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
Click the ReadyBoost tab.
Select "Do not use this device" and click OK.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, a workaround you can use is to move the photos to a non-SATA HD and sync the images from that drive.

With the introduction of Ovi, Nokia is expanding from a focus on mobile devices to offering a range of Internet services.
